Whenever NHS and EC meet on the field, the players feel the tension and pressure of the rivalry.

Going into their most recent game, East Coweta had 13 wins and 1 loss. Newnan, being the slight underdog, had 9 wins and 7 losses.

The Lady Cougars gave their best effort even with key players on the bench with season-ending injuries.

Lesley Davis led off the Cougars on the scoreboard with a home run in the second inning. Making the score 1-0. Hannah Scarbrough, Sarah Vallery, and Danelle Curlee each had a hit. Maysen Willard and Shakerra Geter both had RBI’s.

Sophomore, Addie Andrews pitched a solid game. Out of 88 pitches, 56 were strikes, and she also had two strikeouts during the game.

Despite their best effort and teamwork, Lady Cougars still fell short but look to rally in their upcoming games.

The Lady Cougars will meet the Lady Indians on the softball field again during the Regional Tournament in early October. The Lady Cougars look to return as many players as possible for the tournament but plan to battle back in the spirit of Coweta’s oldest rivalry.
