Senior Parent Night at Newnan was a great way to reach out to the parents more directly and help build their relationship with the school as well as the counseling department.
According to Mrs. Pamela Lewis, NHS’s Lead Counselor, “[Tuesday night’s] Senior Parent Night was a huge success! Three-fourths of the cafeteria was full!”
Mrs. Lewis gave an informative presentation on life after high school to inform parents about how they can help prepare their students for making decisions regarding post-secondary options
Students and parents should all be on the lookout for many more opportunities to be engaged and informed during College and Career week from November 9th to 13th.
During this week, students and parents will have the opportunity to join Mr. Mike Barnes, NHS Counselor, and Mr. Jeff Bryant, NHS Athletic Director, in the cafeteria Monday, November 9th for a presentation on the NCAA and the requirements for student athletes. The following night, parents and students are invited to come to our College, Career and Community Showcase. Many colleges, universities, and businesses will be in attendance.
Two Financial Aid Information Sessions will be held from 1-6 p.m. and 2-7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10th. Georgia Student Finance Commission representative, Ben Meadows, will present information about HOPE scholarship, grants, loans and other financial aid in the state of Georgia.
