Newnan High School’s National Honor Society is holding a Prom Attire Collection Blitz.
National Honor Society will be collecting gently used prom attire and accessories from students and families for the upcoming event this May.
Mrs. Jessica Cornwell, Sponsor of National Honor Society and English teacher, commented, “Our club wants to help fellow students make prom night a reality by making attire and accessories available at no cost.”
Donations started being taken on Monday, March 14 and will continue to be taken through Thursday. Students who wish to donate can take their attire and accessories to Mr. Troy Cornwell, Room 203, Mrs. Cornwell, Room 403, or the front office in the ninth grade building.
Friday morning from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the Old Gym, students who are in need of assistance purchasing prom materials may try on and fit dresses, accessories, tuxedos, and other attire.
Next Thursday, March 24th, immediately following school to 5:00 PM, students may also try on clothes in the Old Gym.
Students may donate anything prom related. All donations are available at no cost to students who attend the try on.
“Students who want to donate can bring in their gently used prom attire. This includes bridesmaid dresses or attire from other formal events,” Mrs. Cornwell said.
Cornwell explained, “Anyone can come in and try on. First come, first served, and everything is free.”
The project’s goal is designed for students who want to avoid the expensive costs of prom.
“Hopefully our club can offset at least one expense related to prom,” Cornwell stated.
For every article of clothing or accessory donated, students will be entered to win a free prom ticket to this year’s dance.
