NHS Drama Performs “The Government Inspector”

By: Haley Fisher

The Newnan High School’s Drama Department is ready to perform for audiences again!

Preparing for another one-act competition, the Drama Department will perform “The Government Inspector,” originally written by Nikolai Gogol in 1836 during Imperial, Tzarist Russia.

The play is based in a small town and focuses on its corrupt government. The despicable mayor and his unfit associates are unhappy to hear a government inspector is coming to pay a visit. The small town goes into a slight panic driven by greed when they begin making accusations against innocent people.

Based on a true story, Gogol uses his witty and savvy side, and he turns this play into a chaos of comedy.

Make your way  to the NHS Auditorium on September 29th and 30th to see the Drama Department in action. The show starts at 7:30 both nights, but tickets go on sale at 6:30. Come have a laugh and support NHS Drama!
